UPDATE: unfortunately Prepped stopped trading
What have you prepped during the lockdown in the summer of 2020? Anything new, or are you too busy as you are still at work? I have been planting up my allotment, trailing new recipes and delicious food meal kits and ready meals from another new company.
About Prepped
Prepped is delivering twice per week restaurant-inspired meals to Cambridge and Saffron Walden areas. With a shelf life of three days, you can cover the whole week if you order twice. The seasonal menu changes regularly, but the most popular dishes like lasagne will always be part of the menu. Don’t fancy cooking Sunday lunch? No worries, they have that covered too.
Prepped was born out of commuting to London for 15 years and no time to cook a decent meal. Simon and Steve decided in January that it was time to open shop for the commuters at Audley End station. Not long after, they had to adapt their business module due to Covid-19. The focus shifted to the consumer market, and their place at Audley End station temporarily had to be closed.
Keep it simple
Keep it simple is their motto. The team behind Prepped wants to prepare tasty food that people can finish off quickly at home. They do the legwork so you can enjoy delicious food without the fuss. Being foodies themselves, they know this is important.
About the chef
The meals I trailed were delicious. Not a surprise as Emma, the director of food, has over 25 years’ experience cheffing and consulting. Checking out the website of Prepped, you will notice that she has worked for some big names such as Angela Hartnett and Gordon Ramsey.
If I had a favourite, it would be the Parmigiana, and the charred aubergine gave it a lovely smokey flavour. Next up is another vegetarian one, charred cabbage and chana dahl. The meatballs in tomato sauce with polenta, the Thai green curry, and the slow-cooked smokey octopus were just as delicious, but the first two topped my list. It is fair to say that all their meals are not only delicious but well priced too.
